The Royal Palace

Built centuries ago, the Royal Palace has always been the most beautiful building in Nigme, besides the Citadel. Everyone comes here to pray to the goddess in a small temple. It is all one room, but can be seperated by sliding wooden doors.

Zereiya sat on the stone steps of the Royal Palace, silently staring out into the night. She often came here to think or to figure things out when she was upset. A gust of wind blew against her, and she quickly rubbed her arms.

"I don't think it's very wise to be out here all alone at midnight, do you?"

She turned around, instinctively putting her hand on the hilt of her sword. Before her stood nothing more than an oak tree, with a nest of sleeping birds. She hesitated, scanning the forest for any sign of the person. Nothing. The forest was completely empty except for the many animals sleeping in their homes. She was growing more and more frightened by the second.

Zereiya took a few nervous steps backward, and her back hit something hard. She spun on her heel, and when she saw the person standing before her, she gasped. She was completely speechless, and before she knew it, she staggered backwards and fell upon the lush green floor of the forest, having fainted.

Zereiya had spent countless hours searching around the Royal Palace in hopes she would get some answers, but he was no where to be seen. The one time she had actually wanted to see him, he didn't show up! She was frustrated beyond belief, but she had enough control over herself not to let her temper get the best of her.

When she finally gave up, she sighed and sat down on the grassy forest floor, hugging her knees to her chest and staring out into the evening. The day was growing old, and Zereiya decided she should go home. If she did ever find him, she wanted it to be in broad daylight, when there was plently on sunshine to let her see... And plently of witnesses.

She emptied her mind of negative thoughts and got up, ready to head back to her home. When she turned around, she saw familiar bright blue eyes gazing at her in the distance. Not now! She thought, while stepping away from the luring blue eyes. She had one hand gripping the hilt of her sword tighly, just in case...

"I presume you looking for me?" He asked, feigning innocence. When she backed away even further, he started chuckling and said, "Don't worry, I don't bite." Zereiya stopped in her tracks, deciding that asking him a couple of questions couldn't hurt...

"Why did you come back?" Zereiya asked curiously, while gazing intently at her enemy. He looked down into her eyes and smiled, then slowly shook his head.

"Zereiya you haven't changed the slightest bit. Aren't you happy to see me?" He asked sarcastically, while Zereiya glared at him.

"No, I'm not. In fact, I would have preferred that you had never come back here. But you still haven't answered my question..." She said, turning her accusing eyes on him.

"Well, I came back because I have some unfinished business here," he replied quietly. When she gave him a puzzled look, he stayed silent.

"I thought you were banished," she said quickly, breaking the silence. "And what is this unfinished business you speak of?"

"That is for me to know, and you to never find out," he whispered, then he quickly disappeared in the shadows, leaving Zereiya dazed in her thoughts.
